What is an Embassy?

An embassy is a diplomatic mission that represents the interests of one country in another. It is a permanent governmental office that serves as a center for communication and coordination between the host country and the home country. Embassies are typically headed by an ambassador. The main functions of an embassy include promoting bilateral relations, protecting national interests of home country’s citizens and businesses, and providing consular services like issuing visas. Embassies also serve as a source of information and support for their citizens traveling or residing in the host country.
